This gas tax issue has been around since before EVs when car manufacturers started building lighter and more fuel efficient vehicles in general. Since then, there has been a drop of tax revenue per vehicle miles. So just wait, if it hasn’t happened yet, states will mandate car manufacturers install GPSs that send mileage data (among other things) to the states taxing authority’s office for the purpose of billing you monthly (among other things).
