I wouldn’t go down the road of closing bases though, you should be wishing/pushing for more base openings not closures.
Orlando, Tampa, Miami all make sense to me. Lots of travelers, both business and leisure. So much fun and sun. On the other hand...There's Cleveland.
No one wants to see a base close, but everyone wants the airline to make money and compete.
My big question is this....if we closed CLE, would any other airline feel the need to come in and fill the void? I think we need to go out and compete with Jet Blue who just announced London routes. Both AA and JB continue to grow in and out of Florida. There's money in Florida...Cleveland...Not so much. Florida has a great government climate, reasonable laws and no income tax. That sounds like a winner.
