The Japanese have worn masks when ill for many years as it is considered good manners. Mask use there is common and wouldn't be seen an an imposition. Japan did not do any general lock downs but very targeted and short lived ones only in areas of outbreaks. A good thing we should have mirrored here.
Spent 4 years in Japan. Our Japanese neighbors told us they don't get "sick time" like we do.

They go to work sick. They shop sick. They wear the mask when they are sick.

If you've ever been in Tokyo Station at rush hour you'd get it.

There's a little more to masking in Japan than you see on the surface.

Still here we are 1 year on. Masking away. Is it going to go ad infinitum???
