I always thought that 3 cups was just an inside joke since I never worked at XJT until I ended up on his jumpseat. That guy is a nut. If I remember correctly, UAL already shot him down at least once.
The rest of the XJT pilots that I met while jumpseating were all fantastic and I hope they get a job offer.
I flew a few trips with good old 3-cups. Once you figured out his quirks, he was a good guy to fly with. Great pilot, and always made sure his crew was taken care of. Most of the people who spread rumors about him never spent a minute with the guy on the plane. Jim the Jungle Surgeon, on the other hand, is a completely different story...
