It's true what you major in is not important. I think Psyc would be an interesting major. Grades aren't directly important, having the degree is, but I guess it's good to shoot for the best grades possible. I had a solid B average in college and nobody seemed to care.

Try to work on your PPL as soon as possible. Basically, the sooner you can get started, the better. I agree that you shouldn't take on major debt to do that, though. Just do it as time and money allow.
