There are many benefits to having a diverse workforce, by implying hiring women and people of color equates to hiring less qualified people is complete BS. United can hire women and people of color while still hiring the best pilots out there. Everyone gets the same piece of plastic from the FAA, so competency is not sacrificed to hire minorities. If a company wants to reap the benefits of having a diverse workforce, guess what? That's capitalism, and it's their decision to make. If that bothers you, go find a job with a company that has values similar to yours (which are most likely crappy ones).
