Trying to look in the macro here. I don’t think it’s about the 2,500 people that have to be not a white dude. It’s more about 20 years from now another kid seeing an African American woman as a captain. Filling a racial quota today will lead to a more uniform and fair pool in the future because small kids will see people who look like them up front and then be inspired. It doesn’t have to be a binary argument. Yes, it’s a little dystopian on the surface but it’s not about now, it’s really for 15-25 years from now.
Hey great goal, but yea very dystopian way of how to get there and very slippery slope and we’ve been slipping down a lot of those slopes these days. Here an idea, let agree on that goal and find (dare I say) a more “American” way of getting there (and before I get jumped on for that, I mean by way of achievement and merit).
