This is a very interesting point you're bringing up.

As I mentioned in my previous post, by default, any pilot I fly with today is a rockstar who has more than earned his/her way to the left seat at my airline. I recently flew with a captain who started out in the Navy as a Tomcat RIO. He wanted to fly, but none of his RIO time would count towards anything. While still in the Navy, he'd fly on the side and instructed. He was building hours so he could pursue a civilian flying career after the Navy. He ended up at Skywest, retired from the Navy, upgraded, built his TPIC time, got hired at Southwest. He was one of the nicest people I've flown with and very humble and down to earth despite his achievements. Does it really matter that he's African-American?

15-20 years from now, using your example, are we gonna be looking at people like this outstanding captain I mentioned above, and instead of presuming they're rockstars, will we presume that they are 'quota hires'? That's what this woke virtue signaling is doing to them. It's not promoting them - it's assuming they're incapable of great things on their own merits, only to make these woke idiots feel good about themselves.
