A couple of crews got to spend the night in the TPA terminal last night. Apparently the Covid Home School workers just couldn't get around to the crews that timed out (or see it coming) and get some rest accomodations squared away. Over two hours on hold. 0600 they call to inform of the 1900 DH back to base followed with a sheepish, "are you still at the airport?". Where else would we be??? At least I am allowed to find my own way home all day long on my day off. No hotel offered.
Those crews aren’t real smart then. I too, was stranded and couldn’t get ahold of CS through phone, or email. I talked to the CP on duty, who was easy to get ahold of, and after 2 hours waiting at the airport, I was in a hotel room for the night. He did tell me that since I was paying for the room on my own, it was a bit of a gamble getting reimbursed, but Spirit has never balked on reimbursements, that I’m aware of. I talked to a union rep that said that’s BS. There is no gamble and I will get reimbursed, no issues.
Any crews who spent the whole night in an airport have nobody to blame but themselves. Go get a freaking room and expense it.
