AA currently has the sh$ttiest contract of the legacy carriers, a worrisome debt load, and a geriatric pilot group that is fixated on doing it the way they’ve always done it. Hopefully we collectively grow a pair and fix our contract. Our never ending LOAs that never quite reach industry standard don’t make me too hopeful though.
But despite those drawbacks it beats any regional out there. Be honest if you could take your seniority and future seniority progression with you to any airline/cargo company of your choice you would be gone in a heartbeat. We all would. Maybe in 5-10 years AA will be the place to be. At the moment it’s not and you can’t really fault someone for pointing that out.
You can’t separate seniority progression from everything else without entering fantasy land. I couldn’t have my seniority progression anywhere else and it’s the #1 reason I came here. I agree with all your points, AA has a ton of issues. I knew that when I accepted a job offer here. And I accepted that offer because of the seniority progression - and despite the issues you mentioned. Choosing a major is about your career as a whole, not just today. I am happy with my bet.
Saying we would enter chapter 7 is an absolute joke though, you have to realize that.
