I think management knows that this next deal will be good for 5 years plus however long they want to drag out the next Amalgamation. Somewhere along the line they'll "give" out 10% pay raises to keep just enough people around to run the operation. In the meantime they need to get ahead of the mass exodus they know starts again as soon as everyone resumes mass hiring.
