If you miss your first, sometimes they'll buy you a ticket on the 2nd flight, or they'll say "try the 2nd flight" depending on how bad they need you. If you don't make the 2nd, they will drop your entire trip or part of your trip and you don't paid for it. I've only had a commute drop 1 time in 4 years of reserve. Most of the time I'll get on the 2nd flight on my own, or the company will buy me a ticket.
