I have to say, like the other post says- the arrogance coming from some of the Delta pilot group and (formerly?) Delta mangament is a huge turn off, especially when someone uses the word "entitled", as though they are better than us and we on the lowely regional side are not. Somehow we are safe enough to fly a 76 seat aircraft but not 110. Of course this isn't the entire Delta pilot group- but those that say this kind of thing is a bad look.
Like yet others have said, it is the exact same job. It's cliche at this point to say it, but it's Delta procedures, flying Delta metal, Delta passengers, and ultimately managed and paid by Delta. The difference is in name only.
The 2-tier system is divised to pay regional pilots less, that's it. Like others have said- I've seen many pilots get the double no that are great pilots, with great attitudes, and clean record. What does it say to our pilot group when such people get the double no? Lesser than, not good enough. I've seen other less than great pilots, or with less than great attitudes that I can't believe made it to Delta.
Should those less than ideal candidates have made it to Delta? No, probably not. But they shouldn't have made it to Endeavor either. If a pilot is not safe enough, competent enough, qualified enough, or professional enough to be at Delta, they shouldn't be at Endeavor either. It's the same brand to the customer, and the safety and professionalism should be the same.
If you think you are better than us because you are at Delta, you are both wrong and correct. You are wrong because we do the same job, but you are right because Delta has artificially made it much harder to get into Delta so you likely had to work a lot harder to get there.
But that's not a good reason to keep up the fake divide, that is what Delta mangament has always wanted - to create a divided two-tier system so they can pay regional pilots less and bargain against Delta MEC's contract demands.
That said, most of the pilots I've met at Delta and Endeavor alike are great pilots and great people. Do I think I'm entitled to go to Delta? No, I know what I signed up for. Do I think Endeavor pilots do the same job, are just as safe and professional as a whole? You bet. I hope the progression happens, and I hope our parent companies' Delta pilots and MEC will support that.
Tell DAL to pay dearly for the 35 jets.
Remember this…they will always divide and conquer. At the end of the day, the pilots will always have the fault for every other employee group. We are the highest compensated and they make sure other groups knows it.
In this case:
-If we agree to their flowback without gains, we lose le average and OUR job protections. We are in contract negotiations already for 2 years.
-If we don’t agree, then we will be the bad people to Endeavor Pilots and the whole company. “Pilots don’t want to help”, “We can’t make more money, because pilots don’t want these 35 planes flying”.
They decided to close the doors last year, they decided to pit us against other groups and they are doing it again.
Would you want a flow down provision in your contract? After what happened last year? Because they could’ve come and do a flow up/down…but I remember endeavor guys saying “no, that will leave me out of job.”
At the end of the day, Delta pilots will vote for what is best for us, not for other employee groups.
