Why Envoy allows it, idk, but it’s not any different than before Envoy. It’s just done with high quality and awesome editing. He does mention the bad parts of the industry, but always keeps it positive. Because let’s face it, the Lord knows Envoy is better than instructing.
Envoy allows it because it IS FREE ADVERTISING. Yes, he produces a good product and Envoy approves the videos he puts out because they have Envoy on them. And not to beat a dead horse but MOST people have a gripe about the fact that Envoy has a VERY restrictive social media policy to the point that a lot of people won’t even post any pictures that could possibly tie them to the company for fear that something unrelated will get them in hot water and here is a kid that has a blessing to take all these videos. And then there is the issue of him putting out those videos, that are undeniably Envoy advertising, while the company was busting the pilot’s b@!!s about pay issues.
There were other individuals at Envoy who were warned about their videos. They weren’t negative, but they definitely didn’t have the polish and positive spin that SM’s videos had.
The other guys, while at WOs, were not at Envoy. Some that I saw, while did have some airline info, didn’t have the polish and were more about the individual. Would most people consider SM’s better, probably. Certainly better produced, but aimed at a different group. Both are financially benefiting from them though.
But whether or not you like the kid, or what he was doing with the videos, his personal life choices should be his personal life. This isn’t the place for those comments.
