Just yesterday there was 35 pilots who thought they were going to fly the bus over the puddle. Now they are not.
When I was in training it was 600-650 in the next 18-24 months (I was in training April). So take it for what it’s worth. I hope for my seniority sake it’s 1000 in the next 8 months. But realistically and historically, I do not think we have ever hired what we said we were going to hire.
Also, it begs to ask the question, what are we hiring for? We are short 190 FO’s. We still
have something like 10 320’s parked. But where else are We lacking? The order book doesn’t seem like it needs 600 pilots. Just my observation. The more that get hired the better. However, I’m not holding my breath for 600.
I don’t think they were fully staffed for the contract requirements before the hiring stopped. I have a feeling it’s that, and if keeping the 190s longer they need to upgrade captains again
