Yeah, this rumor pops up like clockwork every couple years... it's apparently appealing because both airlines are among the oldest and both named for non-conus states.
Although if AS was smart it wouldn't be a horrible idea to solidify their HI business with what's obviously the best brand recognition for that. The flip side is they'd probably have to dip their toes in international to justify the purchase price, and they're risk averse. They'd also have to keep the HAL brand, at least for international and some mainland-HI ops, and that might rub the SEA-centric culture wrong. But never say never.
