This is how a properly specialized society functions.
Do you feel the same when the "news media" sensationalizes an in-flight preventive engine shut down and reports it as if all the pax were close to dying? The media is a very powerful force for the masses....they want to believe the sensationalism...... Runway excursion?....media worthy! "Death imminent!". Go around due to traffic separation? ..."Oh, My!!" Makes the news(sometimes)..... ATC loss of radio comms?.....heard about that for weeks in the media.
Yes, those people trust you, because they have to if they want to fly. Had the virus?....maybe you don't have to blindly "trust" them. Fauci being a media wh@re doesn't help.....signing off on gain of function tests in a Wuhan China virology lab because the USA bans that....doesn't help. Filp flopping on mask wear....doesn't help.
One other big diff. When those people come onto your airplane.....they know that YOU are putting YOUR life in YOUR hands......they are just parasites along for the ride. Their fair assumption is that you do not have a death wish.....so they board. What is the percentage of scientists that don't trust their brethren and have refused the shot? Hmmmm....so they refused to board the proverbial plane. Consequently, your analogy falls a little short of the mark IMHO.
BTW....I've had the vax....I just don't think the simple solution/analogy you provided is the be all and end all of this thorny dilemma
