What if that’s a new normal? I’m planning a trip to RSW next month to check on elderly mother. Rental car cheap as expected; hotel less than normal points at Marriott. Air fare is sky high for RSW in June—multiples of normal. A lot of planes have been retired, pilot shortage is still likely but we moved the dates of the retirement bulge back years for most carriers. Perhaps, there will be a new supply/demand equilibrium at fewer seats supplied and demand reduced to meet at a higher price level. ULCCs full on some.
prices have been ridiculously low the last 6 months.. they are skyrocketing now... once the ticket yields are where the airlines want they will add a lot more capacity... July/August is going to be crazy.
