This doesn't mean we need to accept being subjugated to the bottom of a combined list when many of our pilots have given decades of service to Northwest and now Delta. I'm not asking for DOH or relative seniority since that would be completely unreasonable but a staple would not be fair either.
Newsflash - Scope was never given away. I suppose we also gave away:
Our retirements
Pay-rates
Two weeks of vacation
I can go on but I assume you guys get the point.
It cracks me up that these myths keep getting perpetuated - anyone who was around since the early 90s knows exactly what happened. In the Pre-RJ days there was no scope - zero, NADA, zilch, IIRC it didn't even start to appear in our PWA until either the 90s or possibly the late 80s and was all of few sentences long. AAL flew Fokkers, connection carriers flew that 4 engine mini jet looking thing etc. Cats and dogs were living together - real chaos.
The RJ was a game changer and no one knew how it would play out. DALPA has made many, many mistakes regarding Scope and every other issue you can think of but hindsight is 2020. Then when we knew what we were dealing with management like Dean Wormer

, dropped the big one. No we were not put on double secret probation, but taken on the wild ride known as BK, you know when we "gave up" things like pay-rates, retirement, vacation and Scope.
We can all do ourselves a favor by not repeating things just because we heard other people spout them.
Sailing can probably add greatly to this topic to help educate some of the younger guys.
