FYI don’t take this that I want our entire airline to operate as a multi base turn only operation ala Allegiant. That kills flexibility.
This is true but he probably won't be able to hold turns for many, many years unless he bypasses upgrade. When I took the first available upgrade in FLL I was barely getting any turns as a somewhat senior FO, maybe 2-3 a month tops. As a junior CA I am probably a decade or so away from regular holding turns on the regular.
Definitely not in the near term for most.
