Just rough numbers because I'm too lazy to be precise, there are about 500 pilots hired 2007 and earlier who are bypassing upgrade right now.
As those people get closer to retirement, meet X number below them on the captains list, etc., they will upgrade. It's definitely not linear and is very dependent on the size of the vacancy bid. I think it would have to be pretty substantial to see it dip to -14 hires and below again.
