I got hired with 7000 hours, of which most heavy time on the 787. I’ve seen some amazing pilots as cadets on the 787, with less than 300 hour time that have their stuff together but not that much experience, can you blame them? No. I’ve also seen some awful pilots with 12,000 hours that couldn’t find an MEL if their life depended on it in a short period of time.
