Lines in all fleets stink due to optimization. I've been here 16 yrs, CA for almost 4, and my lines awarded are all over the place. If I need specific days off, I find myself having to fly every week. If I have a bit more flexibility, then I may be able to do week on, week off.
Long story short - fly the airplane that you want to fly, then make it work.
