from my experience, at least on the dual class RJs. It’s not the trips themselves that were bad, it was the fact I had to fly 17-19 days/month pretty much every single month. With our current ADG/ALV combo that issue would be virtually eliminated.
while 5 legs a day was not a whole lotta fun, the flip side was no red eyes and very minimal time zone changes.
one big advantage the regionals have is pretty much all reserves are SC reserve. Not sure how big that is but right at 2 hour call outs were very common when I was on reserve.
