Astute observations….Alaska is a bit the imposter of airlines…They do employee relations and contractual obligations somewhere between Mesa and Allegiant. They do public relations as though they are United. They tell their customers that they operate at Delta plus one. In the end it is a job that works well for some in each base… Locals that come with money, legacy kids and people that have other work. It works well for most retired military pilots….It works well for pilots on their way to the majors. And, there are the rest of us who find ourselves just working for a living. The other groups do not worry much about contractual quality or contractual administration. It has created the environment that has allowed the CBA that we work under to remain virtually unchanged in at least 25 years.
We end up with unity in name only…Definitely not an airline worth stressing over….
