Ah, gotcha.
Sounds like it might be a good idea if there were some sort of process where we could get to know people before they got brought on board, to hopefully prevent people with those attitudes or traits from getting here in the first place.
Maybe we could have some of our pilots speak to the candidates beforehand. Oh yeah, maybe even have HR there as well, because they look for/ask about different sorts of things than pilots do. Maybe just get everyone together in a room and talk to the candidate, to see if they’re a good fit for the company culture.
That way we might be able to sort of “filter” or “screen” the type of people who might engage in egregious behavior like showing up looking like garbage, or being insubordinate. Because as we all know, it’s very expensive for a company to bring someone on board only to have to fire them later. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, etc.
I dunno, just a thought.
