If you think about it, they don't really have a good idea on our grasp of anything yet because we haven't done our orals. Of course that will change in a few days.

I've only heard of one guy being sent home since we got here and he was about a month ahead of us. From what I understand, he failed his oral and then failed several of the first sims. He also wasn't a jet guy. You've made it sound like people from our class who haven't had jet course experience have been let go and that just isn't the case.

And where are you getting the idea that they offer the jet course based on how you did in the interview? Did you hear that from them? Because frankly it just doesn't make sense. How does someone's ability to recognize symbols on an enroute chart, brief an approach plate, or talk about his proudest accomplishment have any indication of how he'll be in a jet 3X faster than anything he's flown before? I know from personal experience that they said right during the interview that I was doing really well and that I'd do fine during training. But they offered the week long course to me because of my really really low time (also not because of my 10% chance of making it through, either)
Your right, reading charts and stuf doesnt show how well your going to do in a jet, but the sim interview will. How fast you can make calculations for a hold and how quickly you make corrections on the ILS is a clear indicator of ones ability. I was simply trying to state that the CAPTAINS BOARD determines how well you actualy did in the interview and they take your times in to account (It's a combination). I think it's pretty arbitrary, but whatever. And yes I was told by somone on the captains review board. Yes someone from our class was sent home, if I heard correctly. remember someone falling asleep in class? I was told from his partner that he is no longer here. Thus they have sent people home from your example; they are sending people home from my example; and they will in the event of poor performance regardless if you have signed a contract. Not that it should happen very often, but it obviously can and does.
