This is precisely why we have traditional airline pilot uniforms. When you are in another country, those uniforms make a huge difference. You automatically get respect and can command direction or lead others. Otherwise, nobody would follow or listen to you if you had anything else on.
Respect? Wearing a uniform in the pax terminal usually just invites a random walk up customer asking me what gate their flight is at.
