What I don’t understand is how these vaccines are at once a near universally effective solution & a bioethical nightmare tantamount to child torture. They work. They’re safe. If you’re comfortable with your odds of surviving the virus (I am) but afraid of unproven boogeyman issues with the vaccine (which even if true are statistically less significant than the actual proven risks of said virus) I think your ability to understand data is in question. Still, I’m not for forced vaccination. But we are seeing right now in this country how vaccine hesitant populations are being impacted by an ongoing pandemic that is in full retreat where vaccination is common. Personally, I’d rather see more people get vaccinated than idly sit in a vector supply chain & let it mutate until it beats our immunity & we’re back to square 1, but that’s me.
There are sectors that are higher than others, but are still continually trending lower. Mutants don’t beat immunity but exposure to them adds to immunity. Studies from UoL, John’s-Hopkins and others have recently performed studies to support this.
The aggregate of the efficacy you state, the 90% chance one won’t get Covid, the 99+% chance one won’t die from Covid, and herd immunity from both vaccines and infection, make the odds of a vaccinated relative contracting the disease virtually nil; one in many, many millions, same with the odds for unvaccinated youth.
This has nothing to do with the health and safety of grandma and grandpa or child torture (shame on you for gaslighting) it’s about manipulating the population to be lock-step in thought by the “scary” scenarios being propagated.
