By 2023 means the draw down would start happening now. 2026 means we have time to scope out options and make career decisions instead of short term employment decisions. We already got a glimpse of what Kirby plans to replace us with this week. A 19 seat electric prop that is still in concept development to be flown by Mesa.
I’m not betting on that happening either.
However if anyone is thinking ZW, or any regional, is a career employer they are nuts. Come here, get a jet type, get 1000 hrs turbine/121 and start looking better options. If you’re in Aviate get your time and hope to transition before the end.
I don’t even think we would be safe if we got the 550’s. The airplane it’s self is a short term work around to scope limitations which are a weakness in Kirby’s dream plan.
The difference between us and Compass is I actually believe ownership wants to stay in business. Hulas didn’t and still doesn’t.
Compass was being feed a load of **** because it’s easier to sell a well staffed company than a failing company. That’s his plan now with G7 get them built up so someone will give him money for the whole operation. However if he can’t and he can walk away from the contacts without penalty like he did with TSA. C5 is in Denver now because he wanted out, and passes the contacts on to XJT.
The freighters are just a means of being able get a little more life and value out of the clapped out fleet, they are not the future of the company.
