At what annual salary does one achieve clairvoyance? And PIC safety of flight responsibly is dependent upon many processes, procedures and people. Yup, that’s the guy/gal the FAA will go after, but if the ACARS is inop and you need an LPR to land within 15 minutes at an alternate what are you to do? I tend to solve problems, not look for them in other people’s expertise areas.
BTW when was the last time you checked tire pressure?
