There's a 2010 hire on the SWAPA forum who is looking at a 17 year upgrade and brings up some pretty good points as to why the rumors from check airmen and chief pilots may not truly come to fruition. I don't think he is being pessimistic, but rather pragmatic considering the 1000 pilots who had bypassed prior to the pandemic and the contradiction between rumors and aircraft orders and plans announced in the Q2 earnings call.
The pilot in the SWAPA forums has some justification for being bitter. He would have been a Captain if it weren't for the MAX issues then COVID.
However, I disagree with everything he says. He's going to have the opportunity to upgrade very soon if he chooses.
