It seems every other week I am reading about large expansions of competition in MIA directly focused at competing with AA. Today it’s Frontier and the article cited Delta eying in on MIA? Does AA stand a chance at fending off all the competition and keep MIA a fortresses hub or will it be systematically dismantled?
MIA is a hub for connections headed to Latin America and the Caribbean. American dominates the airport, ULCC's serving primarily leisure passengers headed to Miami as their final destination isn't going to push AA out of MIA or really have any affect on the operation. With this past year being the exception American typically serves a different type of passenger than F9 or NK does, these roles are returning to normal as travel rebounds.
