A friend was doing his second SWA interview several years back. Over half the group that day were also second interviews, with several third interviews, and even one 4th interview. All had the 737 type already (required at the time) prior to their first interviews mostly on their own time and own dime. Despite HR folks telling them how its their interview to lose, the pass rate that day was around a quarter.

One "retest in 6 months" is nothing compared to the history of the industry. That doesn't mean anyone is "tip of the spear" just that a company has a test they expect you to figure out whats on it and study for it so they can measure one's motivation. Sure some can roll out of bed in the morning after a bender and ace it. Most will need to study specifically for it though.

Look at the company "gouge" for the old test screening; it was tens of thousands of pages of recommended "study material" basically encapsulating the entirety of pilot knowledge. Its like your spouse saying "if I have to tell you then nevermind".

Don't take it personally, just dig in and try again in 6 months.
