JetJock why are you saying you'd only get 30hrs in the CRJ? Don't tell me that's all those guys are flying. When do you expect to upgrade?
I've talked to pilots who are more senior to me in ORD & MKE (only bases I can hold RJ CA) and since Jan 1 they've only flown an average of 30 hours per month with most of them breaking guarantee only one or two times last year. With all the pilots senior to me getting ready to upgrade I'm sure my reserve stint will last about 1-1.5 years in ORD where as I can hold a pretty nice line on the Bro and average around 90 hours of TPIC and 14-15 days off every month (instead of 10-11 days off on reserve).
They are awarding April's EMB Upgrade class right now and I'm hoping to get it, if I don't then I will get May's class. I could have held EMB CA a long time ago but I didn't even consider it until recently and now it's so obvious that I'm sad I didn't put two and two together earlier. But I'll get my TPIC and with the amount of hours I'll be building should be more than qualified for most everyone by this time next year where as it would be Sept or Oct before I could upgrade on the RJ and then it would take me until late 2010 to build what I would have in early 09 on the Bro.
Yes, more growth would make my reserve stint on the RJ quite a bit less but I’ll take a sure thing over a rumor any day and if the rumor pans out then a year from now, if I haven’t yet been hired by a major, then I should be able to hold a pretty sweet RJ line in the base of my choice.
As for RJ vs. T-Prop, I really don't care seeing I'm not an SJSer, both a/c are TPIC and as long as it's 121 TPIC the majors don't care if it's T-Fan or T-Prop. I know what I need to do to get to where I want to go and the Bro will get me there years before the RJ will.
