A good amount of them are former Military Pilots that ended their careers on a staff tour. They probably just needed 100 hours of Turbine recency in the last 12 months to get looked at by wherever they were trying to ultimately end up. Some might be MIL Rotary guys that needed a bit of fixed wing time to be competitive. Some might be Regional LCAs or Regional Captians with a lot of PIC that get a heavy type rating and immediately are competitive. There’s no magical formula but that probably makes up most of the cases.
