OP, I have been driving 2+ hours to my base consistently the last 7 years and occasionally for the last 12. A few key things I have learned that makes the drive less of a hassle…. The BIGGEST thing you can do is get a commute car you actually enjoy driving! Petite little Honda Civic with great mileage is an absolute BORE to drive! Find something you look forward to driving at the end of your trip. I eventually custom ordered my almost perfect commute car from Germany, and I enjoy every minute gripping that wheel and engaging with the car.​​​​​…
Secondly, find some good podcasts or books to listen to as you drive. It really helps pass the time.
Thirdly, take solace in that your car is never cancelled, never delayed, never weight-restricted, and if it leaves without you; something went REALLY wrong…. You will get home. Period. End of story….
