From my layman's perspective it seems like the hiring team is not thinking things through.

And also, who sends multiple emails with no updates to applicants hoping for an interview? Are they trying to irritate applicants or are they just that dense? I would love to work for Alaska but I feel like the red flags are popping up and I don't even work for them.
Alaska makes money for their investors, but is run in many ways like a regional airline, this may be some of what you are seeing. Having said that and acknowledging that there is a bid with a number of upgrades out right now, my guess is that Alaska is slow playing these interview calls while watching what their future bookings look like in regards to covid. If they drop off as some other carriers claim they have I’d expect the bid will cancel and there will be no need for new hires, if not then likely the interview calls will probably pick up.
