Quote: Reading is tough. I know 3 people personally (not hearsay) who had upcoming interviews and/or CJOs with both B6 and UAL and are rescinding them. Straight from the horses mouth. Completely short-sighted and it’ll potentially cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars on the back end of their careers, but it’s hard to talk sense to someone when they have a raging b*ner because mainline is throwing them a “token of appreciation”. Don’t mind the handcuffs attached to it… Also, the airlines you specified above are all majors and the same mindset should apply to them as well.
Maybe they’re long sighted? Maybe they live in a AA base? Maybe they don’t want to commute their whole life which actually could hurt schedule flexibility and career earnings due to having to commute? I mean some of the responses on this page seem to be spawned out of pure hatred and get out of Piedmont or you’re an idiot. By the way we all willingly chose to come here. Hundreds of thousands of dollars? Considering it will be a small amount of money compared to total career earnings, is that worth it to you to commute for the next 30 years going somewhere else? Moving away from family? Now that being said if you’re willing to move or live near multiple bases for different legacies it’s a different story.

If you lived and had family in a senior United, Delta, J6 etc base making $170k-200k a year as an FO are you going to commute cross country to a junior base to upgrade early? Are you going to sit reserve in a crash pad for years for the bigger check? Same
when a wide body slot opens up? You’re going to commute to the most junior base? Because if you don’t, you’re potentially giving up “hundreds of thousands of dollars”. So be willing to commute for a few years potentially 5-10 even if you live in a base just to make sure you get every penny…

Who are you to judge these people and call them short sighted? Maybe they’re doing what’s best for them and their family?
