I think this is true. Spirit having to pay pilots years 1-12 substantially more cuts into their cost advantage. They will fill right seats with Riddle Rats before cutting into their cost advantage.
But this is a nice primer for when negotiations come around and people are saying “we need higher first year pay!” Let management raise rates for their own recruitment issues
Exactly...everyone needs to remember this when contract negotiations roll around. First year pay is up to the company. It's their issue, their problem to resolve, not the union.
