There is absolutely zero possibility of that. The aircraft we operate are not advanced enough to retrofit with the necessary equipment to make single pilot viable. When things go wrong, you’re busy with 2 people...even sometimes when nothing goes wrong but it’s just busy airspace/complicated procedures it’s very busy.

Getting the experience to be a Captain on the equipment we fly and the places we operate is no small task. Somebody with significant jet PIC experience or somebody with significant experience in similar aircraft/operation can make the transition to Captain pretty quickly...but what about the pilot that arrives with zero PIC, zero large aircraft, and zero international experience? Those pilots will take a while to get up to speed. Plus, there are some pilots that just aren’t capable of single pilot...we all know people like that.

Management would love to cut the required number of pilots in half...but it’s just not realistic...maybe not in the term of any of our careers reading this.
