And no one knows his story, could have been a panic moment in his interview that screwed him or could be he’s a horrible pilot with a crap record. But my point is there’s no need go off on him like that. Too many people have that internet courage when speaking to to others online. Panic moment at the phone screen? It is like 10 minutes. If you don't start drooling violently and licking windows mid-screening, you will get the offer, unless there are some serious issues in your resume that needs addressing.
If I were the OP, I would fess up and figure out why you can't pass a phone screen. There is something seriously wrong. Either you need serious interview prep, or your resume has some serious problems. Calling him out on that is not necessarily a bad thing but could perhaps help in the future.
