Trust me I know it’s all about cost, I’ve been there.
Three persons ( or entities) responsible for the airworthiness of an aircraft:
- the owner/operator
- A&P/AI/MX facility
- …….the PIC
Getting a ding on your certificate for flying an aircraft that is not airworthy will be career altering and prove to be very costly in the long run.
$60/hr
DRY RATE leaves zero profit for an operator so consider all they’re skipping on to make a buck.
Consider that also when you’re “sharing” flight time with a stranger. Who is admitting to being PIC when ramp checked?
