Ive had some luck with bleach but time will tell after a year or so if they are still holding strong. I may just go to the old military wire collar stays that I had to keep the collar looking correct.

The only reason I use the starch anyway is the openings in the collars where they tend to droop at the top of the neck and not have that crisp look.
