Starch doesn't hold up well after you sit in your seat and sweat for a while, so I don't bother any more. 100% cotton and starch works better in an office environment. The cotton/poly shirts hold up reasonably well once ironed.
The cotton/poly pilot shirts will turn yellow eventually...they'll last much longer if you dry on medium heat and iron on the lowest setting that will give you steam. Starch will hastend their demise.
Ring-around-the collar can be beat by applying stain remover to ther collar every wash. Or you can just rub in some detergent.
