some have no airport standby at all. Others have real short and long call with contractual carve outs on the first & last day for commutability. Others that do have airport standby are only 4 hour shifts and no more than like 5 a month.
The CBA and work rules are so non-existent because these people do not know how to run an airline without an army of reserves in standby, and the ability to reassign pilots at anytime for any reason.
it is not a well managed or employee friendly airline. They’re living on the name and reputation built by others long long ago; and even that has about worn out. The word is out, if you don’t actually live in ORD or DFW; stay far far away from “da Voy.” The other bases open and close on a whim, even when it’s obviously a mistake to close one.

just fly your schedule, stay out of union work that will involve confronting them on contract or fairness issues; build your hours and get the hell out as soon as you can. If you’re not already there, then instead go to Endeavor, then Republic/Skywest, then Mesa. Anything else will be facing hard times soon as the shortage worsens.

I think things have gotten better since you left man, but I do agree that there are 2 people left (JE and RW) that stand in the way of a true transformation. All captains are pay band C now, the DFW CPO is an amazing person which is an improvement to the overall culture here. There’s still some ways to go though but this isn’t the dumpster fire it once was circa 2014
