This thread had the makings of a dumpster fire from the word go.
I am actually glad that SWA stepped in and came up with a carrot/stick incentive vs just staying silent. It isn't a mandate at all. You can still choose to remain unvaccinated. This IS the moderate approach. It incentivizes being vaccinated while still offering a choice.
Whack, it's pretty clear where you stand on the issue, but I think you are letting your emotion cloud your judgment.
13 TFP represents two days off to get the vaccine. It's about what I would have expected. In the end, having a vaccinated workforce will save the company a bundle of money and heartache. THAT is why they did it.
As far as SWAPA goes, I do agree that this should have been discussed with them and an agreement reached. I am seeing a big rift opening between SWA labor relations and SWAPA that is harming both the company and the pilots. While I am all for giving the company the big fat finger during negotiations, I also don't get both sides acting a bit like petulant children when they don't get their way.
In any case, I find it humorous that the pilots who are ardently anti-vaccine are crying and whining about this program and suggesting that pilots who don't subscribe to their world view should stand strong with them in some show of solidarity.
