Is it possible for me to "stack" reserve days so I can limit my commute to twice a month? At my current job I work 8 day trips and the idea of being able to put together 2 blocks of 8 or 9 days each is appealing. If so, is it realistic for a junior reserve to pull that off? I wouldn't care too much about which days they are. I've been away from 121 for about 3 years and at my last airline, I think it was a 6 days.
At Delta you can put all of your reserve days in a row. So you can have like 16-17 in a row of reserve, then 13-14 days off depending on the month. Scheduling just has to schedule you for 30hrs rest during every 7 of your on call days (can be at an outstation during a trip), so you essentially get a few extra days off per month with this method. You can even string your days together month to month so do like 30 in a row, then 28 off, but I've never seen anyone do this...seems brutal.
Edit: you have to be senior enough to hold the days off that you want to do this. But in a junior category it shouldn't take long (aside from holidays etc.)
