With the amount of hiring and staffing needs we have, almost every new hire will be able to transfer to their desired base (on their initially assigned aircraft) on the very first AE that comes out after they are hired. This last AE had openings in every base for every narrowbody plane except maybe the 7ER in a base or two. So realistically it's really more dumb luck as to when you get to move. Some people get lucky and the AE comes out right after they start indoc, so within 9 months they can be where they want to be, or at least out of NYC. If you start right after an AE comes out (like this last class) then you're going to have a bit of a longer wait. My guess is there will be an AE every 2-3 months next year. There may be a slightly longer break over the summer if they do a big May bid.

But again to reiterate, any new hire will be able to transfer to another base on the same airplane as soon as there is a bid out.
