If it were not for tax payer money this 3rd Q SWA would have lost 135million dollars, Gary Kelly has already said with fuel prices on the rise they are going to have 4Q loss as well. Stop and think about the physiological toll that is having on management and it’s investors. This company and the people running it, are not use to losing money. This is new territory for them, and you have a new CEO coming in who wants to make a good impression to the board and investors. He will not stand by and continue to try to grow his way out this problem, just like all airlines when they start losing money, they will shrink to profitability, or at least stop any growth and reevaluate. Which in any case appears they just did. Cut capacity back to 2019 levels according to the article. Welcome to the great reset.
